Abstract
There is a consensus about the severe impact of the economic sanctions on the Iranian economy and the
limits of its achievement to compel Iran to stop its uranium enrichment activities. However, the probability
of the emergence of revolutionary uprisings against the regime due to the sanctions is still a debatable issue.
Therefore, this article seeks to understand the probability of transforming economic demands of Iranians to
political demands as a result of the economic sanctions. In that respect, it attempts to answer the following
question: Would economic sanctions be successful to dissuade the Iranian regime from its nuclear program
as a result of widespread discontent among Iranians in an era when the Middle Eastern and North African
